Which numbers to compare
- Life Path: shows whether your general direction and pace of life are similar.
- Soul Urge: shows what each of you needs emotionally. Many numerologists see this as the most telling for romance.
- Personality number: describes first impressions and initial attraction.
- Expression number: shows how your talents and working styles fit together.

The three compatibility groups
| Group | Numbers | Shared trait |
|---|---|---|
| Independent | 1, 5, 7 | Need for freedom and personal space |
| Stable | 2, 4, 8 | Value security, structure and commitment |
| Expressive | 3, 6, 9 | Warmth, creativity and care for others |
Master numbers use their root: 11 counts as 2, 22 as 4 and 33 as 6. Two people with the same Life Path are usually read as very similar, which brings easy understanding but also shared blind spots.
Worked example
Two Life Paths
- Person A: born March 12, 1990 → Life Path 7
- Person B: born June 24, 1992 → 6 + 6 + 3 = 15 → Life Path 6
7 is in the independent group, 6 in the expressive group
A numerologist would read this as a mixed pairing: 6 wants closeness and to look after people, while 7 needs time alone. The usual advice is to talk openly about how much togetherness each person wants. That advice is useful whatever your numbers are.
What a compatibility score does and does not mean
Our calculator gives a score based on the groups above. It is a simple rule from numerology tradition, not a measurement of how well two people get on. Research on relationships points to communication, shared values and how couples handle conflict, none of which a birth date can show.
Use the result to start a conversation, not to judge a partner. See our disclaimer.
Frequently asked questions
Which Life Path numbers are most compatible?
Numbers in the same group: 1, 5 and 7; 2, 4 and 8; 3, 6 and 9. Couples outside these groups are not incompatible; numerology reads them as complementary or as a source of growth.
Can two people with the same Life Path be together?
Yes. Matching numbers are usually read as a strong natural understanding, with the risk that both share the same weak spots.
Should I end a relationship because our numbers clash?
No. There is no evidence that numerology predicts relationship success. Treat any reading as a prompt to talk, not as advice.
