What the Life Path Number shows
Numerologists treat the Life Path as the most important number because it comes from the one thing that never changes: your date of birth. It describes broad tendencies, such as how you approach challenges and what kind of life tends to feel right to you.
Other numbers add detail. Your name gives the Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers, and the day you were born gives the Birthday number. Read together, they make up a full chart.
How to calculate your Life Path Number
- Write your date of birth as month, day and year.
- Reduce the month to one digit. November (11) stays 11.
- Reduce the day: add its digits until you get one digit, but keep 11 or 22.
- Reduce the year the same way: add the four digits, then add again if needed.
- Add the three results together and reduce the total. Keep 11, 22 or 33 if the total lands on one of them.
Worked example: Born August 14, 1995
- Month: August = 8
- Day: 14 → 1 + 4 = 5
- Year: 1995 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 24 → 2 + 4 = 6
- Total: 8 + 5 + 6 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

Frequently asked questions
Should I add all the digits of my birth date at once?
Adding every digit at once usually gives the same single digit, but it can hide master numbers. Reducing month, day and year separately first, as above, is the common method and the one our calculator uses.
Can my Life Path number change?
No. It comes from your date of birth, so it stays the same for life. Your Personal Year number is the one that changes every year.
Which Life Path number is the rarest?
Master numbers 22 and 33 are the least common because only certain dates add up to them.
